The Vaal River is the largest tributary of the Orange River in South Africa. The river has its source near Breyten in Mpumalanga province, east of Johannesburg and about 30 km north of Ermelo and only about 240 km from the Indian Ocean.
On the banks of the Vaal River north of Sasolburg. 100 stands, 25 of which are reserved for campers. 75 have electrical connections. Stands are level, well-grassed and shady. Some stands receive sunshine in the winter. Water taps and rubbish bins regularly positioned. Access roads in good condition. Ablution blocks with toilets, showers, baths, laundry and scullery tubs. Third ablution bock for use by the handicapped. Swimming and kiddie’s pools, supertube, playpark. Three lapas, communal braais, facilities for functions and other get-togethers, a heated spa-bath complex, a kiosk and public telephones. Chemical toilet disposal unit. Boat launching facilities. Twelve 6-bed, two luxury 6-bed and two 3-bed chalets. All furnished and fully-equipped for self-catering except for towels and dishcloths. Kitchenettes, bathrooms, covered patios and private braais. Luxury chalets have carports and share a lapa.
